One Time Traditional Wood Venering Workshop

Before.JPG

What Is Wood Veneering?

The art of wood veneering is the practice of bringing out the beauty of the wood grain. Today, wood veneer is often used to cover poor-quality material, making it appear as solid wood. However, there is much more to wood veneering. It is a centuries-old craft that consistently highlights the natural beauty of wood grain. Veneering allows for the creation of intricate patterns that cannot be achieved with solid wood, either due to structural limitations or because the thickness of solid wood does not permit such designs..

What Will I Do During the Workshop?

Objective of the workshop

First and foremost, the goal is to enjoy a creative and engaging experience. You will learn the fundamentals of traditional wood veneering, including cutting, matching, and applying veneer to create elegant bookmarks or pencil case.

In this workshop, you will learn how to:

- Select your veneer

- Prepare your veneer package before cutting it

- Cut veneer

- Create a traditional wood veneer pattern (parquetry)

- Glue the parquetry to the substrate and clean it

What You Go Home With

Depending on the number of participants and length of the workshop, you will leave with  different items decorated by you (pencil case, book mark, etc.) showcasing your veneering work and designs designs and leave with foundational knowledge of this centuries old craft (tools, process, material, etc.)
